Absence

It’s been six months.
Six months longer,
chiller than par.
Six months, long enough,
chill enough,
to have fermented what I might have thought
into words.
I wouldn’t have said it then,
but your eyes betrayed the bloodletting you’ve hosted of late.
The way a falsified smile can incubate a lie,
and how like smoke suppressed
a story will find its way upward, to the windows,
to […]

Rube Goldberg

Time will progress,
dominoes trip, stumble,
each moment batters the next
All with so much falling
it’s hard to isolate an instant.
one day
I drove past the lake,
which rests quite contrary to the freeways.
I would have given
THE WORLD FOR AN EXCUSE!
To have said I’ve left something behind!

(GENTLY WINKING.)
I do remember leaving the lake, and […]

Moments

Alright, here’s a new one that I wrote for my English class (actually, in my English class, as opposed to paying attention).

But while your eyes have that throned solempne,
which in the hardest moments beckons come,
a storm gives no signal but flee!
for yourself, your future.
And if God himself gave your eyes that weight,
then I thank him for the […]

Galleon

I. a flotilla
      of ants carrying leaves
            fascinates,
      magnificently-sailed dinosaurs
      wrong-proportioned
      to the landscape.
II. though masted,
they would fit neatly in bottles
      which dinosaurs don’t,
      nor galleons, certainly;
but there are models for that.
III. revolution!
      backwards; hive-minds need
      no sextant, quadrupeds fare
      decently sans Aeolus’ blessing.
      Still, sailing is the pinnacle
            of beauty;
IV. human innovation
V. before God’s.
